Plastering

We are now getting ready to plaster the inside of the house. After almost two years of dusty cohabitation with bare rock walls we have finished running cabling through the walls for the electrics and can now seal it all up.

Sounds simple plastering doesn't it? Well not really. We'd like to plaster with traditional lime plaster that breathes but the Tuscan plasterers are not great fans of it because it is slow drying and needs to be applied with more care, and is difficult to square off.

Interestingly traditional lime plaster also costs a fortune in Tuscany, roughly twice the price of the same product sold in Puglia, so sourcing from the right place will save a substantial amount.

I can't wait to get the walls plastered. This will mean that we can finally order the doors and windows and it will start to look like a real house instead of a building site - and even that is a generous description.!
